Roundup: CAD metadata, flange length, quote fields in costing/pricing

Paperless Parts now extracts CAD metadata; extracts flange length for sheet metal parts; and further automates costing from quote fields.

This article is the first in an ongoing series of roundup announcements of smaller improvements that make Paperless Parts better while we work on the next big feature you’ll love.

CAD Metadata Suggestions

Whenever you upload CAD models containing references to part number, revision, material, or finish, Paperless Parts will now suggest or extract those fields to in-field suggestions or our beta found-in-files feature respectively.

This capability ensures you never miss a critical requirement from your customers, saves time, and eliminates the need to open files in external CAD programs.

For a full list of keywords that we match on, see this help article.

Sheet Metal Flange Length

Whenever you interrogate a sheet metal part, Paperless Parts will now identify flanges–a flat segment of sheet connected to a single bend–for bends, open hems, offsets, and tear drops and provide their lengths to both the interrogation results and costing calculators.

This not only gives you more information viewing interrogations, but can be used to programmatically adjust the cost of bending or other routing steps accordingly, such as predicting the number of unique press brake setups required.

Quote Fields in Costing/Pricing

Your process templates and all costing/pricing calculators can now respond to salesperson, facility, and quote estimator, enabling a variety of use cases including site-specific costing/pricing for single-usergroup-multisite, customer-specific markups, and salesperson-specific markups.
