Paperless Parts Launches Wingman™ 2.0 to Bring Deeper Print Intelligence to the Quoting Workflow

Built on an AI extraction model that captures 14x more technical elements from prints, Wingman™ 2.0 delivers improved accuracy and entirely new extraction types at every stage of the quoting workflow.

May 6, 2026

Boston, MA – Paperless Parts, the leading intelligence platform for the industrial supply chain, today announced the launch of Wingman™ 2.0, a major advancement to its suite of AI-powered suggestions and automations embedded directly in the quoting workflow. At the core of the release is a significantly upgraded print extraction model that now identifies 14x more technical elements per drawing, including new extraction types like surface finish, bend lines, chamfers, and weld symbols, and is significantly more accurate. These richer extractions flow directly into Requirements Review, Paperless Parts’ rules-based automation engine, enabling shops to automatically flag risks, enforce quoting standards, and act on part intelligence without manual interpretation. The powerful new automations are all built on Paperless Parts’ secure, CMMC-compliant AI architecture.

For custom part manufacturers, accurately interpreting technical data from prints and RFQ packages is often the first and most consequential step in winning business. Estimators routinely spend significant time manually parsing multi-page print packages to locate specifications that are critical to accurate pricing but easy to miss: surface finish callouts buried in notes, thread requirements scattered across views, tight tolerances with no visual emphasis, or welding symbols that demand shop-specific interpretation.

The cost of missing these details is high; underquoting erodes margin, while overquoting loses jobs. And the expertise required to consistently catch every requirement across varying print quality, drawing conventions, and document formats is in short supply at most shops. The latest version of Wingman was built to solve this problem.

Wingman 2.0 represents the most significant expansion of Paperless Parts’ AI-powered suggestion and automation capabilities to date, powered by a substantially upgraded print analysis model that now extracts 14x more technical elements per drawing than its predecessor.
The release introduces five new extraction categories, includes a new material suggestion capability, and meaningfully improves the overall accuracy in detecting and extracting critical data.

  • Wingman 2.0 now automatically identifies and extracts the following from technical drawings:
  • Surface finish callouts, including roughness average, range, or class
  • Bend lines, including direction, angle, and internal radius
  • Chamfers, including side lengths and angle
  • Fully featured threads, including thread system, pitch, and more
  • Weld symbols, indicating the presence of welding requirements on a print
  • Additional dimension properties, including role (basic, critical to quality, or reference), and keywords indicating typical or stock

Wingman now also detects material specifications on prints and assists the estimator in selecting the appropriate material, streamlining one of the most common and repetitive steps in the quote setup process.

All new extractions are also available in the platform’s Requirements Review rules builder, enabling users to quickly and systematically respond to the requirements that most affect their quoting risk (e.g. if a material that a shop doesn’t work with is identified, Requirements Review will automatically surface the option to No-Quote the job).

In addition, Wingman 2.0 is built on Paperless Parts’ purpose-built, manufacturing-aware AI. Paperless Parts’ AI has a unique and differentiated ability to understand technical drawings, RFQ packages, and the nuances of how custom parts are specified and produced.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools adapted for industrial use, Wingman is engineered to be used in environments where data sensitivity is non-negotiable. As a CMMC-compliant Cloud Service Provider with a FedRAMP Moderate Equivalent security posture, Wingman is safe for use in environments handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). The platform’s privacy-preserving AI architecture has been independently validated through peer-reviewed research presented at the 2024 IEEE High Performance Extreme Computing Conference and through annual FedRAMP assessments.
