Paperless Parts Launches New DXF Quoting Capabilities to Help Manufacturers Quote Faster
Paperless Parts now automatically cleans and costs flat-pattern DXFs so quotes can go out in minutes, not hours.

Las Vegas, NV – Paperless Parts, the leading intelligence platform for the industrial supply chain, today announced new DXF capabilities in Paperless Parts Quoting™. Estimators can now read and automatically mark up and split flat part files inside the quote so they spend less time fixing files and more time quoting and winning work. Paperless Parts will demonstrate the new capabilities at FABTECH 2026, booth #C7621, October 21–23.
Most flat-part RFQs arrive as DXF files, whether the part is laser-cut sheet metal, waterjet-cut plate, or a gasket. They rarely arrive ready to price; many are prints with critical information like dimensions, notes, and GD&T drawn around the flat pattern, while others hold several parts, or an entire nest, in one file. For most estimators, producing an accurate estimate requires multiple labor-intensive steps, such as cloning the file multiple times to isolate individual parts and then manually deleting or annotating lines as cuts, bends, etches, etc. Each step takes time and slows how quickly estimators can turn around quotes.
“Even though the files buyers share are rarely delivered with quoting in mind, they still expect shops to turn quotes around quickly,” said Jason Ray, co-founder and CEO of Paperless Parts. “The capabilities we’re announcing today take the administrative work out of the process so estimators can increase quote throughput and win more high-value work.”
The new capabilities bring the geometry-driven costing Paperless Parts has long applied to 3D CAD models to DXF files:
- See what the customer sent. The new Paperless Parts DXF viewer shows layers, colors, text, and PMI as the customer drew them. Estimators can copy text directly from the file, so instructions carried in a layer or color make it into the quote, and requirements that affect cost are caught before the quote goes out.
- Split multi-part files. Buyers often send one file with several parts, or an entire nest. Paperless Parts makes it easy to split them into individual line items and keeps any labels already applied, so you can price each part on its own without exporting and re-uploading parts one at a time.
- Isolate the flat pattern. Many files arrive as prints, with title blocks, dimensions, notes, and multiple views around the flat pattern. Estimators can isolate the flat pattern from the full drawing, so only the geometry that drives cost gets priced.
- Automatically label what gets cut, bent, or etched. When estimators upload a file, Paperless Parts’ AI assistance tool Wingman™ labels each feature as an exterior or interior cut, bend, or etch based on the file’s geometry, layer names, and common drafting conventions. Wingman communicates its confidence level in its automation, so estimators know exactly where to look before a bend or etch is mispriced or missed. Because bends and etches are captured for costing, estimators price secondary operations the same way on every quote.
- Extract flat patterns from prints. Pull flat patterns from PDF prints into DXF format for markup with one click. For multi-page PDFs, select just the pages you need.
“Before, a DXF often arrived as a full print with a title block wrapped around the flat pattern, or as an entire nest in a single file. Estimators had to delete line items and clone files just to get something they could price,” said Mike Breslin, VP of Product at Paperless Parts. “Now Paperless Parts selects what each feature is, estimators can accept or modify the suggestions with ease, focusing on the trickiest features, and pricing is automatically calculated. Automatic mapping also shows its confidence level, so estimators know exactly where to focus their review.”
“Getting a DXF ready to price used to involve a lot of manual input, and now Paperless Parts takes so much of that off our plate,” said Tramain Davis, Estimating Supervisor at Norfolk Iron & Metal. “Even with just one of these new features, I see us saving at least a minute per part, and across every RFQ we quote, that time quickly adds up.”
The new DXF quoting capabilities are available now in open beta with general availability scheduled by end of year. FABTECH 2026 attendees can see live demonstrations at Paperless Parts booth #C7621 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, October 21–23. Paperless Parts will also host a live webinar walking through the new capabilities on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM ET. To register, visit their website.
